What Are Eyelash Extensions, And How Long Do They Last?

Eyelash Extensions are semi-permanent, synthetic, faux mink or silk fibers that are applied strand by strand with specially formulated non-irritating glue to your own lashes to enhance your eye shape. The application of false eyelashes takes anywhere from two to three hours, depending on the desired volume. With proper care, lash extensions should last up 3 weeks.

Your Eyelash Appointment Do's and Don'ts

DO: Shower Prior to Your Appointment

Eliminating any unnecessary contact with water or steam within the first 48 hours will ensure that the bond between the semi permanent lashes and your natural lashes has enough time to properly set.

DO: Wear Comfortable Clothing

You will lay down for 60 to 90 minutes with dimmed lights and soft music as your backdrop during your eyelash application. Comfortable clothes will allow you to make the most of this time to relax and be pampered.

DO: Remove Your Contacts

Your eyes will be closed during the application of your eyelash extensions. To avoid any discomfort, it is always suggested that contacts are removed, allowing eyes to be comfortable in a natural and rested state.

DON'T: Wear Makeup

Makeup products worn close to the eye will need to be removed prior to the lash application process. Coming to your appointment with a clean face will save time and eliminate the need for you lash stylist to remove your eye makeup.

DON'T: Apply Facial Creams or Sunblock to the Eye Area

The oils in many moisturizers and sunblock can prevent the eyelash glue from properly adhering to your natural lashes, dramatically reducing the longevity of your eyelash extensions.

DON'T: Wear Mascara to Your Appointment

Lashes must be fresh and clean in order to be properly prepped to receive eye lash extension.

Post Appointment Care

As a rule, please do not use mascara with your new false lashes.

Shower

For the first 24 hours after your lash appointment, DO NOT expose your new lash extensions to water or steam.

Skincare and Makeup

For the best retention, all face products must be oil free. Oil free make-up and skin care help preserve the lash glue longer.
