We are all born with Buccal Fat Pads in our cheeks, that give us the full round cheeks that are adorable to see in our childhood photos. As we grow, our faces start to transform while defining our face, cheekbone, and jawline. However, some people are not so lucky. Sometimes, those Buccal Fat pads, do not distribute out in the correct places in the face, and instead remain into adulthood. The fat pads can sometimes be a bit of an annoyance, and make the patient appear to be “overweight” or “less attractive” as an adult.
Buccal Fat Pad Surgery, better known as, Chubby Cheek Surgery, is a simple procedure that helps patients shed their full, round, and chubby facial features. This results in a more sculpted facial appearance.
Where are the Buccal Fat Pads located? They are in the lower portion of the face and can sometimes vary in size. During the Chubby Cheek removal process, these over size pads are removed to help give the patient a more sculpted and defined look. This helps contour the lower portion of the face, while enhancing the cheeks. The results give the patient more confidence, with the illusion of weight loss, as the cheek bones appear to be more chiseled and defined. The initial procedure is non-invasive, and you will heal quickly.
All patients vary based on their body’s ability to recover quickly and efficiently. Most patients tend to see their final results a few months post-surgery with the changes appearing to be natural. Because the surgery is performed from inside your mouth, there is usually no visible scars.
