A Brachioplasty, also known as an Arm Lift, is a procedure that surgically reshapes your upper arm. It removes extra skin and fat from your armpit to your elbow to create a smoother more contoured look.
If you continually gain and lose weight, your skin will stretch over time. When this occurs, sometimes your skin does not have enough elasticity to spring back into place. This can create extra hanging skin that is undesirable. This excess skin is called by many different names – bat wings, old lady arms, bingo wings, arm flaps, flabby arms, curtains, etc..
Brachioplasty can be combined with Liposuction to create a more slender appearance to the arms.
Brachioplasty can be performed with local anesthesia. This is known as Awake Brachioplasty and is just one of the many cosmetic plastic surgeries Colorado Springs Plastic Surgeon Dr. Millicent Geers performs with her renowned Awake Plastic Surgery technique. However, if you prefer, your Arm Lift surgery can be done under general anesthesia. Dr. Geers will help you determine which anesthesia route is best for you.
You may be a good candidate for an Arm lift, if you have lost a significant amount of weight and now have hanging or loose arm skin. Loose skin often becomes an issue after massive weight loss from bariatric surgery–gastric band, gastric sleeve, or gastric bypass. Brachioplasty can be a good solution to help you achieve your ideal arm contour goals.
When you have excess arm skin, you may experience one or more of the following:
If you are experiencing any of the issues above, you may be an ideal candidate for Brachioplasty.
